I'm new to the ARC and to reef keeping in general. I've been dreaming of a reef setup for the better part of 20 years and finally have the time, money and patience to build one. One of the first pieces of advice I got was to join the club and read the forums. So, I've been lurking for a few months and finally joined a couple of weeks back.

My tank has been ordered and the dream (and hopefully few nightmares) is about to slowly take shape. Looking forward to sharing in the journey and learning from you folks.

Welcome Mike. We are glad to have you. Two pieces of advice. 1. Ask all the questions you want. 2. Only believe half of the replies. Unless it is from me. Don't take anything I say seriously. :-).

In an effort to help the new guy, I will point him in the right directions. You have to read the thread in the first link first to get the full benefit of the second thread. :lol2:

I'm speechless.

Welcome Mike, what a warm welcome whit something funny to read, and upgrading tanks and dosing them!!! ROFLOL!

Thanks for the warm welcomes.

As far as my setup - if you ask my step daughters, I'm bringing home Nemo and Dori and will have a bazillion fish. It will be awesome.

The reality is I'm setting up a 225g tank and have a list of corals I'm whittling down as I read more. Most fall into the LPS realm, but I'm paying more attention to environmental conditions than the labels that are on them. The tank will be lit with 3 Radeon LED panels. Flow provided by 2 Vortech MP-40 power heads and an 1800gph pump return.

I'll post some pics when the equipment arrives and the build begins. The tank is ~3 weeks out, so I have more time to read and digest. Hopefully by Christmas I'll have a little something to look at other than water, sand and rock!

BTW - here's the results of my mustard dosing last night:

Welcome to the club. You certainly seem like you have the right equipment for success:shades:.

The most important thing to remember about this forum...rdnelson has way too much time on his hands.
