It is really sad... I had to give a lecture on ocean acidification in association with global warming in respect to coral reefs last week, and ran across the original research paper that he is talking about. It seems like there is no end in sight for the ocean. I am by no means a "liberal tree hugger" but man, our oceans are really getting hit hard.
My thesis is on endocrine disruption in fish, which until a few years ago, had only been seen in fresh water habitats, however, they are seeing these problems now in some apex predators in the sea, such as swordfish... Even as large as the ocean is, it cannot "buffer" the effects of what humans are doing to it...
