I think what I have are hydroids. http://www.reefs.org/hhfaq/anemones/hydroids2/variant/medium">Here</a> is a picture. The picture is not my tank, but what I have looks just like it.

Are these hydroids?

What should I do?

They are spreading but other than that seem to cause no problems.

I would use something like Joe's Juice (kills aiptasia) to keep them under control. I have also scrubbed them off and siphoned them out as I scrub. Keep them under check...they can sting fish/coral.

Keyhole limpets are a natural control also.

They (the hydroids) tend to come in on live brine shrimp, but can come from a number of places.

never heard of keyhole limpets taking care of hydroids, Jenn, do u have more info on them please?

Not as in a link or anything. I used to get hydroids when I kept seahorses (live brine) and I used limpets at someone's suggestion to get rid of them. Worked well.

I first heard about it about 8 years ago on a seahorse forum - I don't recall which one.

Here's a thread where I suggested them eons ago:

and here's another where somebody else made the same suggestion - about 8 years ago.

I googled for those, I'm sure there are plenty more.

Edit: Here's a lengthy segment on Bob Fenner's site.

There is mention of limpets eating them in there, down the page a bit.
