okay i have a question now:

i was looking at calcium reactors and noticed that all the store bought ones are a single chamber. why do all the DIY give instructions for a dual chamber??

The higher end ones have dual chambers. The purpose of a second chamber is nothing more than additional CO2 absorption / buffering performed by the media in the second chamber. You could add 5 chambers if you wanted.
