48 Watts of LED would have to be pretty bright....... I'm just concerned that it wont work for my tank, and I'll have to resort to growing plants in the closet just to recoop my investment for the light fixture.....

Please, I need serious opposition to buying this light and trying it.....

Help me......? Please?

Buy the **** thing and we'll fabricate something cool for it to reside.

Besides if it doesn't work all you have to do is add LE to the description and someone here will give you 100 bucks more for it!

Hey,if it doesnt work out, put it back on ebay.

Probably get most of your cabbage back!

I agree, it seems like a cool idea, as long as it will cover your tank well because I would not expect the LEDs to spread well (say if your putting the 12" fixture over a 24" tank)

I was thinking about a small cube......

Whats the possibility this would work? Seems like 48 watts of p0retty much anything would cover an 18 square cube....

Thouights?

Depending on depth. I have no idea how deep those LEDs would penetrate.

18x18x18 cube with light reliant species higher on the rock pile..... I'm still thinkin bout it

I would be concerned with the par of those leds. Ask what size they are and if they have optics installed. I've been looking into LED lighting and usually these ebay buys just arent powerful enough to penetrate deep enough.

Wow, thank you for that wonderful break down!!!!!!

I appreciate that a lot, and makes great sense broken down in that manor

There is actually an interesting thread on nano-reef.com regarding LEDs. There are few folks on that board that have been experimenting.

Cost of this one is $250. Not sure if it is worth it, but this would be more than enough for an 18" cube. Of course, the knowhow is required to do something like this.

The manufactorer and I have been emailing back and fourth on the light linked here.....

Hes offering me a huge discount if I buy it, then take pics of it over a reef tank for his advertising.......... I'm considering it, but think its contingent on if I can return it, should it do an insuffiecent job.

Lol, one panel is sufficient for 4 feet...at a distance of 18"

Who the heck has their lights up a foot and a half?
