......http://www.oceanicsystems.com/">Oceanic Systems, Inc.</a>, an independent company that was acquired in the 1990s by All-Glass,........

and to have seen all the back and forth about who was better

Now they are all own by a parent company named Central Pets...

and boy has thier customer service died since then..

I've actually owned both brands, and can honestly say that Oceanic is a better built brand with thicker glass and better trim than all glass. Maybe Oceanic became the high end </em>product line

Been years since All-Glass bought Oceanic..Oceanic was always perceived as the higher quality between AGA and Oceanic. Still is. Oceanic is like Cadillac, and AGA is like Buick, more of a Value Leader, but still a quality product.

Did you know this....AGA bought Oceanic and moved the operations from Texas to Minnesota as you posted....but not all Oceanic employees went up there. Some stayed bahind and founded another Aquarium company called Deep Sea Aquatics, which several ARC sponsors sell. They make the NEO series of reef ready tanks, amongst others.

No i did not know that either lol ( constantly not surprised by what i do not know lol ) I had thought there was a company that made tanks for AGA in Mississippi - looking for them is where i ran across that article - I have to go down that way before long and was thinking about getting a tank made and picking it up on my way to Alexandria LA to save shipping

Stock symbol CENTA.... just made a nice sale today after buying at $3.50 a share. ;)

Actually, they are in Wisconsin now (close, Dave!)

Oceanic isn't what it once was, and they have done away with a lot of the duplication. Both AGA and Oceanic used to make a lot of the same tanks - now it's either/or that makes them.

And All-Glass is changing their name to Aqueon. Newer stuff has that label on it and a little mention of All-Glass.

Central Garden & Pet is also a wholesale distributor that carries other product lines, but they now own Kent Marine, Coralife/ESU, Kaytee, and others, as well as AGA and Oceanic.

And yeah their customer service isn't the same as it once was - BUT I will say that in recent months it has improved over what it was... for a while it was customer-no-service, but it's getting better.

I've seen the deep sea tanks and they are good looking tanks. I think the smallest they make is a 70 aside from the neo nano. Very pricey but high quality

And yes, Deep Sea Aquatics is composed of some of the former Oceanic staff. In fact, when I request a quote, I speak to the same guy I used to speak with at Oceanic.

They make an awesome product, but it is EXPENSIVE. Worth it, IMO but often gives people sticker-shock.

Speaking of Oceanic tanks, David, I'm setting up your old 37 RR again!

To my knowledge, Oceanic no longer makes custom sized tanks. They will modify a standard size (different configs etc.) I don't believe they will make any size they don't make off the rack.

Perfecto (Marineland) does though - and they have really stepped up to the plate in the last few years. They used to make ordinary tanks - now they make some great stuff including the Deep Dimension series, the new cubes... and customs. They've written 3 quotes for me in the last 10 days or so.

Speaking of sticker shock. Have you seen a.g.e. Tanks ? And the company that made the tank I posted in the lounge - wow I bet some of those would cost as much as the porche that bbq'd in skriz.s yard
