I'm trying to make an insert to fit inside a sump. I need a simple clear acrylic box with a black acrylic back w/dimensions 9.5" x 5" x 18". Where can I buy one, and how much will it cost?

I think I have an acrylic sump that size. Lemme check when I get home. Clear though

Hey Keith can I you describe it a little better? Is it just an acrylic box? I might be able to put it to good use if your not gonna need it.

Thanks for checking

I've always used fusion for the outside of my tanks, but I wasn't sure if it was safe to be submerged. I'd settle for a clear back though. The dimension of the box is 9.5" x 5" x 15"

What do you need it for? May be able to sling some diy ideas your way.
Mrc box= would be the sexiest most well made "box" in the US

This is my sump. The center chamber will house my reef octopus skimmer, and the right chamber will house my tunze silence return pump. I want to position the pump towards the back of the section, and insert the custom box in the front to use as a refugium. You'll notice that the baffle that divides off that section is low, so there is a constant water level; the box I want till be higher, so that I can increase the overall system volume. The return pump will be tee'd off to provide flow into the fuge, and I plan to add a bulkhead w/strainer to the top of the box to act as an overflow. The volume of the box (at 5" x 9.5" x 15") will be 712.5 cubic inches, thus adding 3 gallons to my system. The black back hides the pump from view, and will prevent light from the fuge spilling into other areas of the filter.

thoughts?

Would a 2.5g tank full of macro work? Weighed down egg crate on top to keep it in?
Also check the 5g tanks at you local lfs

Yes, that would work, but the 2.5g tanks are too wide, and I'd still need a way to raise it so gravity can power the overflow. Space is tight underneath my cabinet, so I'm trying to maximize my usage of it.

Doesn't ARC have a resident diy acrylic guru? lol

There are a few sponsors and hobbiests that do.
A 2.5g shouldn't be to fat. Mine is only a few inches front to back.
Rise it up with pvc pillars and egg crate

$150 now you can go to rants about me instead of MRC who gave you a fair price for a custom acrylic box cut to exact measurements and polished edges. I am a big opponent to diy ,cutting cost and not overpaying for certain overpriced items. While I understand that you may not want to pay that price ,that fact doesn't make any difference in the cost of the acrylic, the time to fabricate or the overhead cost. Maybe your statement was out of not knowing the cost of these goods but still hardly warrants a insinuation of gouging prices and a trip to the rants forum. I recommend you use some of that conserved energy that you saved from not changing forums and posting your comment here and research those cost so that you will feel less violated.
