My ocellaris clown and royal gramma have those little white spots. The royal gramma has been meaner to the clown lately and its scratching itself on the rock. Tell-tell symptoms, right?
I've never had it. How do they get it? How do I treat it? Can I treat it in my 12g or do I have to move the fish to another tank?

nope. haven't added anything in at least a month.
i checked out treatments. these two look like good options. any suggestions?

and what is this? is it something that is good to put in there occasionally for prevention of diseases and sickness? or no?

you can feed them garlic that will help--a lot of time people go overboard on ich treatment and it usually stresses the fish out to the point that they die. If you've got a seperate tank to QT them in-great--put them in there with a good bit of your tank's water-and NO live rock--just a couple pieces of pipe or pipe fittings (to hide in). Keep lights off most of the time and treat-I don't know what kind people here recommend-but i'm sure someone will have some input as far as types. I wouldn't freak out, though-feed them garlic (if you can't get outof display) and that will help out a lot-ich is normal when a fish is stressed, but severe ich can make it die.

ok so would i just get those whole garlic things and put bite sized pieces in when i feed?
i read that the bacteria lives on the feed but breed in the sand and rock so that the tank needs to treated.. not just the fish. would yall agree with that?
if i need to QT them, i may need to borrow a tank

no-soak their food in garlic--like I think it's seachem makes a 'garlic guard' same kinda thing as when you soak food in vitamins (which isn't a bad idea either while treating). Both will help boost immune systems--ich ispresent in all tanks---it's when your fish are stressed is when they become 'down' with the spots (ich).

DON'T use any chemicals in the tank.

I would do a nice water change and feed your fish. Garlic can be used to entice and does have medicinal qualities (if it actually does anything to ich or not is debateable, but it won't hurt). Keep the fish fed well by feeding multiple times a day and keep them happy and you won't have to worry about ich.

Make sure your skimmer is up to par for the overfeeding or keep up with the water changes.

here are some things to read over:
