Why o' Why is my new tank not set up? Cause I have been lazy, well really busy anyway. This is the exact morph I want for my new 20

No telling how long I will have to wait to see one again. Oh well

Has anyone kept these for any length of time? I've heard and read that the survival rate in captivity is very very low and that this is one creature best left in the ocean.

Tiffany at blue planet had one for quite a while. I plan on it being the only fish in the tank, except for its dinner. From my understanding, you don't want to overfeed them.

how about this one? How long would you want it to live for?

that angel is gorgeous but being only 3" long I could never justify paying for it, even if it lived for 10 years, no matter how much money i had

So you're saying size matters to the value of fish? Then maybe go out and catch one of those common monster catfish that always steals my bait when I'm surf fishing. lol

Seriously though, this fish is pricey because it's seldom available to hobbyists seeking special angelfish. These fish are rarely legally collected and only a few are available right now. From http://reefcentral.org/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1295178">what I'm reading on Reef Central</a>, it might be a long time before they're available again. Of this particular harvest (100 fish), 50 went to Asia and 50 to the United States. This is not just any ol' fish that your neighbor down the road would also have and it's quite a prize.

If I were an experienced fish-keeper with the coin to spare, I'd grab both of these Clarions in a heartbeat.

no... im not saying size is everything... but for $3500 I would want a 5 or 6 inch fish, something you could really see well...

Kirk - talk to Patrick at Marine Fish. He keeps frog fish. I was thinking about keeping one after my scorpion died, but decided to switch from the predator tank for now. Frog fish are too cool. There are specifics to keeping them, like any other predator. And the color does not always stay. They can morph over time depending on species and predominant color in your tank.

I will do that, thanks for the heads up.
