So I just got a Scopas Tang from SEA Atlanta Thursday night. Once I got him home, through about a 5 hour drip acclimation, and into the DT, I noticed that he had a small white spot on his nose . I'm not 100% convinced that it is ich, so I'm asking for opinions. Any input would be very appreciated. If others think it looks like the ich, I'll try to set-up a fish trap and put everyone through transfer method treatment.

The one thing I can describe about it...other than "its a white spot"...is that it seems to be somewhat loosely attached. Not right up on the fish, but kinda hanging off...slightly.

 From now on...I will personally QT everytyhing.

Hard to tell but it doesn't look like ich to me...don't bristletooth tangs have little white things just in front of their eyes as they mature(not sure what they are or called)?

That is kinda what I was thinking...I've seen that on a Kole before. Its just on one side though...which worries me.

Doesn't look like ich to me either. 5 hour acclimation????

Ok...I'm convinced. Thanks for QTing him for me Sea atlanta :D.

...and the long acclimation was because I purchased a gorgeous red fromia star too. They need a long acclimation, and I needed to go play basketball ;). Also I try to always introduce new fish soon after the lights go out at night, so the girlfriend watched the fish, drip rate, and temp in the bucket while I was out. My gal is a scientist...it makes reef keeping so much easier for me :)

So are you one of her "Experiments"????? :lol2:

I believe that if it was Ich, there would be more than just one spot. I think you're good.

Before you know it, your company will have no more clients, but a really great looking show tank in the office.

I just convinced my head head boss in California to pay me $100/month to set-up my extra 65g in our stone mountain office. It didn't hurt that my boss in Georgia is an ex-reefer who misses keeping.

Oh yeah...the company is going to provide me the water through crystal springs 5g jugs. Woot

LOL. Tell him you want OT for the time you spend on it. :-)

Ha...if only. I get in 2hrs before anyone else in the office...and I'm hourly, so I'll still be getting paid to stick my arm in the tank :)

I'm not around to share one...but I just popped open a Lagunitas. Cheers

Cheers. Unfortunately I am salary and have been putting in 80 hour weeks for the past couple months. :-(

Bummer...my gal is in the same position. I never thought I'd be happy to not be salary.

It has pluses and minuses. Over all I prefer salary. The way I look at it, I accepted a certain amount to do a job. Whatever it takes, I need to do that job. If it is 30 hours or 80 hours it is still the job I agreed to do.

To get back to the subject of this thread...no thanks to mods trying change the subject;). I'm so glad that I am not frantically setting up qt tanks and building fish traps right now. I would be if I didn't have a club full of members with nothing better to do than skim the forum and put in their 2¢. Lol.

Seriously though, thanks club. This hobby is a lot more fun with you guys an gals.

For sure. For my job, hourly makes more sense in an employer's eyes. I have definitely seen the pros and cons of both
