Ok we'll my plate sat on this rock for about 6-7 months and just recently came off the rock and this little thing was under it?? I have no idea what it is but it's kinda cool anyone else seen something like this before?

thats the stem it grew from. hopefully you'll soon find another little plate growing from it.

Do I need to put it back on it lol does it grow a new one from it every time? Or will the stem just die off?

no plates are naturally free living corals they dont anchor themselves to rocks. the stem is just a way for it to keep from getting knocked around when its small and fragile. and no most likely you will have a clone grow from the stem. it depends on if there was enough tissue left behind on the stem and from the looks of it you should have another plate within a month or so

thanks thats really generous of you. id love to take it but i already have 4 plates that do that and my tank is also full up at the moment lol but im sure one of the other members wouldnt mind having it. or you could hold on to it for a bit and sell it when the new plate starts forming. people love having "plate trees"

Full recovery, growth, and producing offspring. Both pictures are of the same coral, really the only things I did were to keep close watch on it (kept hermits away) and attempted to feed it baby brines when I would feed it to my clowns.

Time frame wise it only took about 2-3 months to come back from that to fully-fleshy again. Plates can get huge, even quicker if they are fed.

Wow! That's a lot of little plates! I thought getting seven new plates from mine was a big deal until I saw that!
