These two things have been on a piece of rock in my sump for quite a while now. Initially, I thought they might be remnants of a previous finger leather of some sort that was a leftover on this rock, but I'm now thinking maybe not. They have been this exact same size for several months now.

I've looked around on the interwebs, but have been unable to find anything that is a perfect match.

I noticed tonight while taking this macro-picture the little branch-like polyp, if you will, extends and retracts every now and then. That I can see, these are the only two in there...anybody have an idea what these are?

Looks like some kind of octo coral.

I think you're right with it being finger leather. Put it under some lights and see what it does, but I have had several with similar colour/shape/polyps.

Even a little bit of leftover tissue can grow back into a colony.

Thanks, Jenn...guess I could try moving them up into the DT and see what they turn into with proper lighting.
