I reaquascaped last week, some of my rocks settled close to my BTA (hosted by 2 Maroon Clowns, mated pair). I noticed a couple of the bta tenacles laying on the substrate this AM, like 2-3. I figured a rock cut off circulation so they fell off. when i moved the rock i found this (see photo). This has grown in a matter of days, this spot on my rock was touching the BTA. Algae? couldnt be clown eggs

another possible scenario for the loose tenacles : My foxface has a spot on his side that looks like a "burn mark" on his flesh, not deep but def a little "wound" of some sort. he has been sleeping close to the anenome lately, maybe the anenome stung him and he took a couple tenacles off to get away.

Looks like eggs to me but the clowns *should* have been in full attack mode if you were even remotely close to them.

Curious...

Oh, they were in FULL ATTACK MODE, I had to distract them with my algae scraper and even then i was not safe lol. The small male clown is currently pecking at eating at the eggs, i can remove the entire rock very easily if needed. I didnt think they were eggs because they are attached to the rock, i thought they would lay eggs on flatter surfaces. she has been fanning in another spot for months.

Definitely looks like clown eggs.....stick you hand in there again and see if you get and mini bite marks....haha.....jk.....but it sure does look like a egg batch

Yeah....the white spots are the embryos...that spaot was covered before you moved the rock right?

They stick 'em on rocks. Often you'll see them cleaning the rock with their mouths shortly before they do the deed. I'd let things be. If you remove them without parental tending, they won't hatch anyway. The male will eat ones that have gone bad/are infertile. If you plan to try to rear them it's best to leave them be until just before they hatch, then move them to a nursery tank - but I'm sure somebody with more breeding experience will chime in... that or move the parents and all to a breeding tank...

So what do i do? I have read some stuff a while back in the breeders section but i aint ready for any of that. It would be sweet to have a bunch of GSP babies though

I see, Should i try to move the rock back where it was? It is super exposed right now and my other fish may start picking at it. I wonder how long before they hatch

Not sure what I'd do. Might want to cross a post in Breeder's Corner maybe somebody with more experience will chime in.

just did, thanks jenn
