Id needed

Found this stuff on the bottom of a rock, and can't figure out what it is. It reminded me of cobwebs, but it might be sponges or the trail of some hitchhiker. Any ideas?

So is the general consensus that this is an OK hitchhiker? It seems to be spreading out, and I wasn't sure if it would get out of hand.

It is actually beneficial. It is a harmless filter feeder

I have a big colony under a rock in my display. I kind of like it. . I agree it is a good thing.
