These have spread like a wildfire over my rocks and sand over the last few months. They look like small white/clear tubes. Some sort of filter feeder? Harmful?

I have something very similar, but these look like tiny branches. They aren't transparent at all. I'm hoping they're nothing, but wanted to catch it early if possible. Hopefully it isn't a rare form of the death sticks!

tiny branches may be hydroids, but I can't tell from your photo. Some look like a dandelion seed head and that is the medusa that will sting.

90GalGuys photo looks like vermetid snails to me, Helpful filter feeders, but they can hurt when to you to pick up live rock if you're not careful.

Looks like this is what I have. From doing a quick read, I can break them off using tweezers. Any other solutions? They aren't a big deal, but there are a couple on the stalk of my candy canes. Other than that, they're located mainly on the LR.

I let mine go, they don't bother me. My system has been up for a year and a half and while I had them on my original LR they have never spread to the point of being a pain. I have some growing on rocks that then got surrounded by monti, the monti doesn't seem bothered by the snail and the snail grows faster than the monti encrusting.

Same with sponge, as the white sponge seems to favor dark locations where I don't have anything growing anyhow.

I just did a close look at my display and I have more of these things than I thought. They don't seem to be bothering anything, but I will see if I can break off the ones I have growing in the middle of a few colonies of zoas and on the candy canes.

I believe that they are a form of tubeworm from the Caribbean. I've had them for 3+ years.

They are not harmful, but do use up a lot of calcium as they do tend to grow at a prolific rate.

For clearification Smoothie, The OP posted what I would say is a sponge. The thread was partially hijacked by a second poster who thought perhaps they had the same thing or simular. It was just hard to see the photos.... Or do you not believe 90GalGuy has vermatids, cause then I'd be interested in what you think it is.
