I was in the pet store here in Warner Robins today and saw this fish. The guy at the counter didn't know what it was. He said it just showed up with their shipment of fish. I'm just curious. Thanks!

Check out a Flame Hawk or Arc Eye Hawk. I've had a couple Arc Eyes' and had good luck...

I like the flame hawk. It's a unique fish due to not having a swim bladder. So it sits down alot and stares at you. I can't wait til mine stops being bashful.

Haven't seen the other one your talking about.

They're both very cool looking. The flame hawk looks like it COULD be in a community. What's in the tank with yours? Did you add the flame last?

When I added my FlameHawk, I had a yellow tang, 2 dominant female clowns, and a few damsels.

Since then, I have removed the two female dominant clowns and exchanged for two smaller clowns (in hopes they will bond), added the Diamond goby, (removed the damsels for picking fights). And increased my CuC size significantly.

He has about 3 different areas where likes to hide and watch things. He spooks real easy if a sudden movement is made towards the tank.

This will make my 2nd FlameHawk, my first one died on me and I really liked him. My first one would perch on top of my LR, and watch everything below it. I have never seen either of my flamehawks pick any fights. As far as I am concerned its a safe community fish.

That's great! Maybe I'll get one of those instead of another blenny.

Nice hawkfish.

The group in general have great personalities - some more aggressive than others, but they are all very personable, and they watch their surroundings... well, like a hawk.

All of them will make short work of your clean-up crew. Snails, hermits, smaller shrimp... sometimes they'll leave a large cleaner shrimp (or fire shrimp etc) alone if it's HUGE and if it was there first, but smaller, and newer specimens are more likely to be menu items.

It's too bad - they are a great addition with their comical personality, but if you get one, it's just a fact of life that you'll be replenishing your clean up crew more often.

That's good to know, I have not noticed a decline in CUC but I will
Keep an eye open for sure.

Sure do. It called "Sit N Stay That Pet Place" Long name and they have like 9 10 gallon tanks for salt and another about 18 for fresh. The store is mostly dog, cat, rodent, and reptile stuff.
The salt tanks are still new so a couple are empty waiting on the parameters to level out. I'm trying to talk them into plumbing at least a couple of the tanks together to make some bigger, more stable systems.
