If you won a 12 gal cube, what would you do?

I'm the very excited new owner of a 12 gallon cube from the Pure Reef raffle. I'm trying to decide what to do with the tank. My first thought is to grow out a pair of JJ Oceans onyx clowns before putting them in the DT.

I'm wondering what others would do?

Also can be used to grow out spare frags. Just in case you have an emergency with the main tank. Now if I can convince my wife to let me setup a spare tank, considering I am hiding one in the garage.

I would have to plus one with rizmaher a QT. I would put the clowns in for now and watch them have fun for a little while and have a extra setup.

just curious..where is good information on keeping sea horses...im about to have an extra tank as well...am i correct in that they need different values of salinity, ph, etc etc?

Id probably give it to me....

I think Id make it a seahorse tank if I were you. Seems like a good size tank for it.

IMO a 12 is a bit small for seahorses. It's doable but they do better in a taller tank (tall and narrow is their preference).

QT is one idea, or just make it a stand-alone mini-reef.

Oh and congrats on the win :)

+1 I'd put a mini-reef in my office. I've got the perfect spot for it...so if you can't come up with any ideas.....:D

12 gallons is plenty for some spiecies. Only one pair though. I would research them throughly!! They are really cool but, a bit more challanging due to the amount of waste in the tank (from so many feeings) and flow. So the tank gets nast quickly, and you cant have just any tankmates to pick up after them. They also get strange diseases so its best to get them all at once. seahorse.org is awesome for learning. It can be done and is very rewarding.
I have a pair in my 14 biocube, H. comes along with soft corals, and they breed like rabbits. :) Its deffinately unique an entertaining experience. BUt be prepared to research!!

+1 lol. Seahorses would be awsome. Shrimpybrains would be the one to ask if you had questions on them.
