I got an open brain coral from somebody that was basically killing it. Decided to see if I could save it. So it was originally under MH's (don't know how much or what spectrum) and was put under, not nearly enough T5. It pulled back but didn't die off at all. Just never fully extended. Well now I've got it and it's back under mixed T5 & MH. It seems to like the MH much better than just the T5 light. It's bulked out a little more but I can still see skeleton. Mind you, it hasn't lost any "body" yet.

It's only been a week. What else can I do to aid it's recovery? Should I direct dose it with something? Take it out of the tank and dip it in something? I'm open to suggestions.

protein... feed it mysis with a syringe.. mine liked it, anyway..

I wouldn't be opposed to dipping it. And def try to feed it. I bought one that wouldn't open up and I put it up on a peice of PVC pipe so it was elevated off the Sand bed a few inches and the thing tripled in size. It dosent really make sense but it worked!

not fully opening is usually due to either too much light or low alk levels.

Put it in a low light spot, up your alk to 3.5-4 mg/L and try feeding it.

Fed it mysis shrimp this morning. Seemed to do ok with that. I'll check alk when I get back on Friday. Right now, it's high in the tank and getting a lot of light which seemed to make it happier than it was. I'll try moving it to a lower light location.

they are tough. I have one that is JUST now recovering from being sick over a YEAR. Basically I just put it in a non involved area of the tank on the sand and let it do it's thing :)
