infered thermometers??

does anyone know if these thermometers are really worth the money and is it much better than a coralife digital?

I use them at work for checking the temp of the surface of material that I cant touch or reach. It's the kind that look like a gun and you aim and shoot. Then it shows the temp. It has to be a certain distance and is accurate with a couple of degrees variance. I would use a digital. IMO

Anyone know how those things work? Do they collect thermal info from the source or do they use a dopler/interference effect of a reflected beam?
