Im looking at Octopus Needlewheel 110 for a 75 gallon setup. However I would like to put the skimmer in the sump.. Oct. sell's Octopus Needlewheel 110 skimmer for @$110.00. They also sell a Recirc 110 skimmer for $233.00 & a skimmer that hangs on the back of tank for bout $100.oo. I only have a couple of tangs, w/ hand full of corals aloung w/ clen up crew. Pls. give me advice... Thx. Tommy

they're good skimmers... I'd go with either of the ones for your sump (HOB typically arent as good and have a hard time selling later on).

Most Recirc skimmers have a slight performance advantage over insump types ( the poorer "quality" skimmers see bigger performance increases with recirc versions). They allow your water to stay in the skimmer for a longer time. The longer time in most skimmers is thought to give better removal of waste because of more "contact time". I don't believe this helps performance in all skimmers but that another subject.

IMO The main advantage of recirc skimmers is they don't have to be in a sump. (external skimmers)

If you have the room and money go bigger. Id take a NW=150 in sump over a 110 recirc. you can get a NW-200 for the same price as the Recirc 110.

If you really want a recirc the DAS 1 is a better value and design in the $250 price range.
