Interesting inverts for a 5.5G

They should. I've heard they can loose their nems in shipping, but I've never bought one that didn't have them. Then again, I've never bought one online, so I've been able to see all of them before I buy.

They definitely can live without a host. I'd be curious to see who told you they needed one. Either someone with limited experience with the crab, or a someone at a store that wants to sell you something.

Are you referring to the porcelain crab or the mini carpets? If you are referring to the crab, I prefer the ones that are white, speckled with brown. They don't hide near as much as the others.

If you are referring to the anemone, I read that mini carpets are only naturally green or brown. If you get one that's any other color, they've been dyed, which is really not good for them.

Really because we have a beautiful purple porcelain crab, and while he does hide often, he comes out a lot, especially during feeding and is great to watch. I think just like with anything, it'll be hit or miss.

I've got both Mini and Maxi Minis Anemones. The Minis are green and purple and the Maxis are all sorts of colors. I don't know where the green or brown is coming from as I've also seen red Minis. I think Atlantis sells them however they are not cheap.

Also I don't think anything will host them. They are like carpets to some degree, very sticky and will eat a fish or invert that gets caught in them.
