Is it just me or do you guys get a little excited to find a new polyp, branch, or eye on a rare/expensive coral, I just found a new polyp on my true ppe and it made me wonder

Yup, just counted my Purple Death colony and counted 5 new polyps around the edges...contemplated cutting off 2 polyps and selling the colony and taking my girl out to a nice dinner just because. "Contemplated" is the key word, lol.

I like finding new growth, but not really because of monetary value in the coral. I like to watch things row, and I take it that when the corals are growing, then I am doing something right.

Yeah, I understand that, and I grew this colony of 25+ polyps out of a single polyp, so I figure it's doing okay, which makes me feel good.

yeah, growth is always good, but some of the expensive stuff is harder to keep alive or growing, so it just seeems to be a greater accomplisment

The My Miami chalice I bought as a single eye has 5 now. It had 6, but I fragged it several months ago and traded for another chalice frag of equal value.

mine just got another eye from 1, so now i have 2 - im excited...i love seeing new polyp growth - although i came home today and noticed 3 of my wome ofr favorite palys floated away :sad: and i cant find them anywhere....fresh glue on a disk...and i knew better

i got you a bunch of that superglue gel when i got more to mount your frags, now to find time to make it over to you...

Right on - I bought 4 packs and ended up using 3 packs already so im ready for more! I love the portion control

I got you a frag of the oxide, I tried to get more but I would have butchered the whole mini colony trying to get to them. Yours are stored in a tupper so no worries of it floating away..

The coral I love to watch grow the most is cyphastrea, sometimes I see daily growth but its prolly just wishful thinking..

I failed Jead85 and did not go out there - I was about to leave, got the addy and everything, ran the mapquest and realized how far it was and how much time it would take out of my already packed sunday so i flaked on him and asked for a raincheck or to give away to someone else - i felt terrible as I know its harder to give away free stuff then to sell stuff. My UV crapped out so I figured I better spend my time getting that in line first

I never tried to grow the pulsing type Xenia, but I found that as my system matured a bit I lost the ability to grow a close relative, cespitularia, altogether. Put it in the tank and it melts. I had an awsome colony of electric blue cespitularia that bit the dust almost overnight. I think the organics level in the tank has a lot to do with it. Less organics means the harder it would be to grow. The above just my own guess.

I'm with dave on this one, I'm just happy to see growth. If it's growing it's usuaully doing pretty well and happy. That means I am doing something right. I like it when it feels like it grows overnight. You look at it daily, then one day it seems like it just sprouted a new branch or another head, it's awesome. I love counting baby heads on acan colonies.
