Jason Fox Coral Blow Out on R2R

Curious to see if anyone bought anything from this JF coral sale yesterday on reef2reef... Every 5 mins he would post something in a thread and a link to buy it on his site. You couldn't have sold over priced Beiber tickets to a room of teenage girls faster than this stuff was selling. I have to admit, the pictures looked great and I don't think there was a single piece that I wouldn't have had in my tank. I was tempted but didn't buy anything. The way the sale went was really kind of cool. Anyone waste half a day and expecting a semi truck delivery of coral frags this week?

Saw a chalice (I think) that went for $2500. I couldn't tell if it was a 1 of a kind or not. I don't know anything about Jason Fox but I guess he/his company specializes in ultra rare corals. Does he breed these rare unique versions of the corals that he sells?

Had a pretty good strategy working, but I'm glad it's over now. Haha

And no, I didn't buy the $2500 chalice but I did get a brain freeze monti

I still managed to take my kids to the pool and wife to Marlow's for dinner during the sale. My wife is pregnant so she fell asleep almost right after we got home from dinner. Did a lot of damage then! Lol

Haha, my wife is pregnant too and she complained just about every time I looked at my phone.

Nice score, Tony! There were several pieces I wanted but shipping is tricky since I don't get home until later in the day. Don't want hundreds of dollars sitting on my porch in the 100 degree weather we've been having.

So if I wanted to go "Tonymission" (this is now a verb meaning buy JF corals like a crazed shopper on black friday)... are these sales typically the best value? Or are you better off attending shows or going directly to his website.

Tony - Don't know if you have the same name at R2R but I saw a post where a guy was pissed b/c he took the kids to the pool and missed a piece he was waiting on... LOL. Also - I didn't buy anything because I knew once I did, I would need to get my moneys worth on the $50 shipping... Next thing you know, I get down on 5 pcs and I am in for $500 and I am justifying why the 6th pc is such a good deal since shipping is only $50 for the whole lot. Dangerous!

Have a previous sale with Jason so when you login to your account, your billing and shipping address are already saved. If you have to fill that in, you won't win anything good. Also just refresh like a madman. I literally refreshed as soon as the previous one had loaded and was pretty efficient with my mouse movements. We're literally talking split seconds between getting what you wan and missing out.

Yes that was me on all accounts. The crazed buyer, complaining about missing a beach bum monti, etc... Lol

Glad I did because I later found out a 1/4" piece went for $500 which is ridiculous in sober retrospect but maybe I would have done it after a few beers last night.
Definitely right about slippery slope with shipping once you already have it spread out. Lot easier to pull the trigger.

Anthony Jr and I are working on new frag racks today. Have a huge package coming from AquaSD (all sps) in a couple weeks and these from Jason this week. A lot of these will go in my wife's softie 30g we are setting up in a few weeks. The Amex has a bunch of smoke coming off it as we speak so we'll pay that off and take it easy for a little while. Luckily I'm not a sucker for $400 reef raft wild frags ... I'll buy them privately when I can get a killer deal or look for brown ones at a discount that I can color up.

I might seem crazy but I think there is a whole other tier of crazy above me. Trying not to ever get there!!

I'm going to try and share at reasonable prices to local guys as much as I can in the future. I got y'all's back!
