JBJ 12 Gallon Nano Mods

I have decided to purchase a JBJ 12 Gallon Nano Deluxe, which comes stock with (2) 24-watt 50/50 compact fluorescent lamps and a 106 GPH pump.
Any modifications y'all have to make the tank more efficient and inhabitant friendly (at first I am just looking to keep corals/inverts).
