Anyone have one? When mine is running I can hardly hear it, makes me wonder if it's even working.

So is this a complaint?:D Not a bad problem to have.

I don't hear my 1HP Eco Plus either, but mine is in another room! It is noticeably more quiet than the PCI 1/2 horse one it replaced, when I am back there and it kicks on.

Mine is 10 ft from my couch and I barely know when its running and when its not.

Not tryin to hijack but.....How often does everyones chiller kick on? Mine seems to come on for a few minutes each hour or so. normal? Im new to chillers.

No just set it up and wondering if it's normal to hear vitually nothing.

I was only kidding. I really think it depends on the brand. JBJ seems to be a nice unit.

Gary,
I think it depends on what temp you want to maintain in your reef, the spread on the chiller thermostat sepoint, and the temperature you keep the room the reef is in at. The lower your setpoint on the chiller, the more it will come on. The higher your ambient room temp, the more often the chiller will come on, and the greater the setpoint spread on the chiller, the less often it will kick on. If the t'stat setpoint spread is +1 degree it comes on more than if the spread is +2 or +3.

If it comes on and stays on for an extended period, then I would look at the issue, but a few minutes every hour or so sounds OK to me.

Boy I wish my Aqua Quest was quiet. The previous owner switched out the fan and I don't think he replaced it with the correct one because it's LOUD! I'm looking to reconfigure it with a different fan. Maybe something with more blades. I should say the fan itself isn't noisy but the air going through the coil sure is.

Thanks, my setpoint spread is 2, room stays about 73 ambient, tank stays about 81 around the clock regardless of light schedule. Im hoping it comes down when Grouper Therapy installs the louvers in my canopy and I get my canopy fan going. I get alot of heat buildup in the canopy right now. Sump fan isnt helping much that I can tell
