After recently visiting the Georgia Aquarium, I had a crazy idea run across my head of a starting a jellyfish tank. I was wondering if anybody has any experience or knows anyone who has tried a jellyfish tank. It seems like a fun project to try and was wondering if anyone would have any input. Thanks, Ben

I think the tank has to be round, otherwise they will get stuck in the corners. It would definitely be an awesome tank if you could do it.

Nearly impossible. The georgia aquarium probably inspires many to attempt to keep and kill jellies. There are some custom setups made specifically to maintain them but they run high. If its something your really interested on I'd suggest tons of research and an appropriate build to support them safely. I tried once and they only loved 6 months. Once one died and jacked the water all up. There are a few less advanced species but still need an appropriate setup overflows an intakes are there enemies.

For success, you would need an entire system dedicated just for them. IMO, these are not for the casual reef hopbbyist and are best left in the ocean.

Agreed, despite us keeping some very rare fish in the SW hobby; jellyfish are very niche oriented. It is much more difficult to keep them. Holding a tank at 55-60 is not very easy, nor is having a tank with overflows that a jelly cant fit down.

Looks cool. It cost a pretty penny though.

It's very doable. Just like anything else, you have to have the proper setup, equipment and husbandry practices. Do it right and you'll have a lot of success.

Wow. $850 for a 10 gallon tank. I thought reef aquariums were expensive.

That's not too bad considering what it was design to house and the design of the tank (given that it really works) It looks pretty good thought. Heck, I have over a grand in my 29g biocube right now and I don't have a single fish or coral in there.

I agree considering its a speciality tank. I would think it could be DIY'd for less, but it is cool!
