Just setting up my 140

I added water yesterday and mixed in the salt to get to the right salinity, I filled the tank 3/4 of the way to allow room for the sand and rock I will be adding.

My question, I plan on adding the sand today I have both Dry sand and live sand I am adding the dry sand first then the live sad, I am assuming the best way to allow all the sand to settle is turn off all the pumps? Should I wait anoter day or so before I add the rock?

I have had a 55 gallon and a 75 gallon but never anything near the size of the monster I have now so I am taking it slow trying to keep the mistakes to a minimum cause we all know there will always be mistakes.

Think I could use a canister filter to filter some of the "dust" out of the water?

A filter sock would be easier. You can get those at most LFS.

I ended up hooking up the 2 fluval canister filters I have, I took out all of the media and replaced it with just plain filter pads and live rock rubble. Cleared the tank up REALLY quick! I just gave them a shot because I had them on hand already.
