Keeping pipefish with seahorses: compatible species and care tips

I’m considering adding a pair of pipefish to my established seahorse tank and would appreciate any firsthand insights. Which pipefish species are most compatible with seahorses in terms of temperament and feeding? How do you make sure both the seahorses and pipefish receive enough food without one outcompeting the other? Any recommendations for flow patterns, tank layout, or live food cultures that have made cohabitation successful? I’d love to hear your experiences and any tips to keep these delicate animals thriving together.

It’s been a very long time since I kept seahorses and pipefish, but the biggest tip I can give you is to be extremely careful with wild caught pipefish & ideally avoid them altogether. In my experience, nearly every wild caught pipefish I have ever had succumbed to snout rot, which then sometimes spread to the seahorses. I’m assuming you will keep captive bred seahorses, which are pretty abundantly available.
