Is the Fiji Purple bulb worth the extra money? Who has a bulb that you think comes close in color?

Hi Mike! How many in you fixture? I have 2 -6 bulb fixtures that I'm changing out bulbs in, most will be Giesemann, but I wanted to bring out more color, more blue/purple.

2 atinic
2 14k
2 ultra blue
2 fiji purple.
It was all setup by chris at Einstein's

Edit: That sounds like a nice fixture Mike, I bought a lot of Giesemann bulb from Tim when he closed but I wanted something extra and thought the Fiji Purple might do it. I may stop by Chri's and see if he has any. Does anyone else have them in stock or on sale? They are pricey

You'll find that it gives off a pink light (If I remember right). I had a few and took them out. Good lights with good PAR, .. .just not what I personally like

Thanks, I was wondering what color they would give off, I'm looking for a darker blue or purple, I have too much white. My plan is to put 2 aqua blue, 2 actinic + and 2 ?? I have a midday but that may be too much white. Any thoughts on a different bulb? Holley

And the Purple Plus is for color, not for PAR so it really doesn't matter what brand you get.

I found, when I had T5s, that the pink/purple bulbs add some pop to certain colors BUT you need enough actinic in there to cut down on the tendency to actually LOOK pink/purple. I ended up with 3 blue actinic, 2 white and one pink.

ATI have 2 lamps that I am REALLY impressed with. The Blue Plus and the Blue Special. The BLUE Plus is BLUE... (duh) and the Blue Special looks like a 250w DE HQI Pheonix 14k to me. Those two together are really nice. Throw one GE6500 for daylight in there.. and its actually a really simple.. but pleasing mix IMO.
