How would one go about a qt process on a 12" fish?
I have come across a deal on a show size Blond Naso.
Also how long do they live once full grown? Hate to spend the money on an old man.

Before anyone ask It will be going in a 220. That only has 10 small fish.

I use a 55 gallon QT but my advice is check with the LFS to see how they QT'd the fish. Honestly, if your going to be putting large fish in the display, id go ahead and buy yourself a decent size QT. That way it could apply to all fish entering the tank and you'll save yourself the headache of any parasites or disease.

I believe many fish can live +10 yrs. The problem is that buying a fish that big, you don't know how old it is. And for the record, I'm jealous. I love the blond naso's. Just don't have a tank big enough for one.

It was at the LFS at least two weeks. A friend bought it and it is whooping his other tangs butts. He has a scopas, purple, yellow, regal. But they are all 6" or so the new ones got to go. He has had it for a week.

In this case John, you will /probably/ be okay to put it right in, but Geoff is right with the recommendation of a large QT/Hospital tank for all your needs.

Did you put a UV on that bad boy?

No UV yet saving for the big emperor. I passed on the tang though. I want to qt everything going in the tank. A 20 gallon won't work. I will find a smaller one

blond nasos are fairly easy to come by and you may do better with a smaller/younger one to "grow" in your tank anyhow.

I think that fish been moving so many from one tank to other in relatively short time, could cause him to stress and possible illness IMHO

I would probably use a large Rubbermaid trough like a 100 gallon or 150 gallon for a qt tank for a fish that large. Also the black sides will keep the fish from getting spooked too much!
