Not sure what this is. This white line /spots are only on one side. Fish behavior is normal including eating. These are the best pics I could take. Fish went through 30 day quarantine and one prazipro treatment. Thank you for your help.

Ever felt a tingle when sticking your hand in the tank?

Causes can range from diet, water quality, stray voltage and some even say carbon...

Well, I'm trying to power through what I think is a bacteria bloom. It seems to be getting better but lots of particulates floating around. No tingle thank goodness. My tank is on 2-20amp circuits but I have a tester to test for that. I am running a carbon reactor thinking it will help remove nutrients to feed the bacteria bloom. I have 2 tangs, 1 foxface and two clown fish. None eat nori but all eat what little algae is present on the rock and glass.

regarding bacteria bloom, anything else I can do apart from water changes? I've reduced feeding and did 1 45 gallon water change on a 150 gallon tank. My mixing tank holds 50 gallons so I cannot do more than that at a time. will vibrant help?

The bacteria seems to be mostly in my plumbing. Every time my Apex comes out of feed mode a bunch of white stringy stuff comes out, then gets chopped up by 4 powerheads.

Do you know what your carbon source is ?

That bacteria - even the long stringy stuff - shouldn't hurt anything short term - just keep your oxygen levels up by keeping the surface of the tank adn sump agitated and keep your skimmer running - even if you have to just let it overflow (clean of course) - O2 is your friend in this situation and you want as much in the tank as possible

Don't know carbon source other than food. Skimmer, Clarisea and UV working overtime. Skimmer cup has to be emptied every 3 days even with a dry skim. 75% of the Clarisea filter used up over the last week; it has been running for 3 months. UV running at speed 24/7. Carbon changed out every 4 days using high quality carbon. ORP stays between 405 and 380. Only aeration in the sump is from the skimmer. Should I run an air stone?

I would concentrate on a vitamin enriched diet if you are sure carbon and electricity isn’t a problem. I prefer selcon. It is possible to reverse the HLLE over time with a well balanced diet.

So things are looking better regarding my fish; the foxface came in skinny and gut withdrawn and the Tomini I think did not have this problem when I got him but he was quarantined so that's a mystery. But the Foxface is getting fat, I moved the Nori to the bottom of the tank and they all are eating it. Not only that but they all eat the flakes and pellets not (the clownfish still won't eat the pellets but no big deal). No signs of any pests ( the cleaner shrimp look bored). There is no algae except some brown algae on the back glass but the fish are knocking it back more and more everyday. BUT I'm only in month 4 of a newly cycled tank so we will see.
