The rapid LED packages are a pretty good deal. They include everything you need in standard lengths.
I'm about to start building an LED setup for my 6" 120 gallon.
I got a 73" long, 4" wide heat sink for my 120 from Heatsink USA. They have standard lengths on the website, but if you call them they will cut it to any length. It ran about $2 per foot.
I've ordered two dimmable 150W Meanwell drivers but they are on backorder. Should be in in a couple weeks.
I'm figuring 48 Royal Blue CREE XRE and 48 Cool White CREE XPG. That's probably more power than I need, but I can dial them back and they should last longer that way. The fixture will come in around $1000 all in, but should be equivalent to three Maxspects (at around $500 each), so the DIY pays off. I'm planning to use the extra $500 I'm saving to buy an Apex controller to do sunrise-sunset dimming.
