I was just looking at them online. How many watts and how many bulbs would I need?

It depends. You can get whatever you want. It took me about a week to figure out what colors I wanted.

If you have a canopy or are really good at fabricating stuff DIY is a great way to go. For the budget conscious that want a prebuilt unit I've heard good reviews regarding the reef breeders fixtures.

I have an early DIY kit from rapiled. Very happy with it but it's only RB/CW for color. One of these days I'll add some other colors into the mix or just redo it altogether. They have good kits.

I like just the blue and whites never really thought about any other colors. I just found some 120watts you think 3 of those will be good for sps lps?

After much research I went with the RapidLED Onyx fixtures for my 72" tank. Cost about $900 for three fixtures... they are dimmable... and offer the best warranty of all the LEDs; 100% for 36 months, then they offer full replacement ($75 each) the the next two years. CREE LEDs too!

That is true but I've found the rapidled stuff to be quality. It just isn't pretty and you provide the labor. Really interested in their aurora pucks. I have no skills to make them pretty enough to be hung above a rimless cube though :D. So Kessil it is.

Rapidles uses cree 3watt leds for just about all of their leds. And the onyx fixture is awesome.

Go to the web site and plug in the size tank you have and it will do recommendations based on the size of your tank. I'm not sure what your budget is but the words inexpensive / cheap hardly ever belong in the same sentence as LED fixtures over 72" tank. It really depends on your budget. That's the reason I have metal halides with actinic supplements. I can not afford quality LEDs at 1000.00. That will buy ALOT of bulbs and electricity.

Im running metal halieds on my tank also and really like them I just like the leds because of the power bill. There is no telling how much those 3 250watt mh are costing me a month lol. What kind of actinic supplements are you running?
