All my pairs are spawning regularly, and I really can't grow food fast enough to feed this many larvae. If anyone wants to try their hand at breeding, I have eggs available. Get the algae and rotis growing and come see me.

What is the idea scenario to get this started on limited resources? I'm very interested in captive breeding, but my location is very very limited on getting anything available locally when it comes to salt water supplies.

I'm 90 miles south of Atlanta and I'm not within reach of a good store to purchase any items needed and getting any live food is impossible here.

How do you maintain a good supply of algae and rotis to prepare for the journey down "captive breeding" avenue. Any special supplies needed in the beginning, i.e. lighting, food for the algae and rotis, etc.?

Any special nets needed to capture the algae and rotis for feeding the "little guys" freshly hatched? what size tank is needed to grow the algae and rotis? Any information would be helpful.

Tim, I can show you everything when you come over. Sorry I don't have time to type it all out for ya. check out melsreef,MOFIB,etc. lots of sources out there better than me

I purchased a book from Dr. Matthew l. Wittenrich titled above. The book was recommended by TAL at the June ARC meeting. I just need to find the time to read the book from "cover to cover".

I appreciate your offer of showing me some things on my visit coming up. Do you mind if I bring my camera and make the visit a "photo op too"?

What temperature do you maintain for the "nearly naked" clowns? I've already purchased some .5mm A+ food and "Rod's Food" for special occasions for the couple. I need to make sure that I don't spoil them on "Rod's Food" because it's hard to find here. I had to purchase "Rod's Food and the .5mm A+ when I was in Jacksonville, FL last weekend.

Thanks for your hard work and dedication to "Captive Breeding". For this, I salute you. I hope that one day; I can also dwell amongst the very few whom take extended long days in the pursuit of becoming a "Captive Breeder".

well thanks man. if you like long days and being a janitor 24-7, you too can be a breeder :0
good book that i haven't read either
you can bring a camera
the NN are at 81 and will love some Rods food

I would love to try raising them. Any cost for the eggs? Also where is the best place to get rotifers and algae? Thanks, Ben

no charge. I got my starters from FAF, but you can probably get starters from another breeder. I'm not the only one out there.

wish i would have seen this earlier. would have picked up a few tanks while Petco was having their $1 per gallon sale and set some up. bummer

Yep
I've got lots of ocellaris eggs hatching tonight and every 12 days if anyone wants them.

I would love to come over unfortunatly my breeding room is moving at a snail pace as far as being ready. I still have to get my rotifer cultures going and get a few other supplies before im ready

You need to do a little research first. I'll be glad to teach you in person, but I don't have time to do a correspondence course.

And if any experienced breeder wants to try something new, there are plenty of YWGoby eggs to go around. Abundant and very tiny, about 1/4 size of clowns.

What's your thoughts on breeding maroon clowns? I saw a pair of these the other day and I've always been fond of them. If nothing else it gives me a good excuse to have another pair I don't have to have :)

I used to breed them, but gave my pair to Mike. Now I'm making new pairs. They're not much harder than others, they just fight more in grow-out.
