Light cycle question

I currently have a jbj 12 gallon with a par 38 led over it. My rbta opens up great for a few hours every day, but then shrivels up for the rest. Everything else opens up all day. Is there something I should do with the light cycle? I have heard of some people doing 6 hours on and 6 off, but mine is on from 12 to about 8 or 9

I wouldn't do more than 8 hours full blast but that shouldn't matter to the rbta. Nems just do their own thing and no one really knows what makes them bubble up some of the time and shrink up other times
