Light/stocking advice for established tank

About a year ago, I set up a 3 gallon Tom's. I got it set up, cycled it a few days, and added a few hermits and a yellow damsel, with the intention of letting the damsel get everything going, and then switching him out for a clown fish and some inverts. Then, a few weeks later, I had my son a month early. So, of course, the tank never got finished and properly stocked. I've kept up with maintenance, but never thought twice about the tank until today, since my son has taken up 95% of my attention for the last year. What I realized today was that I have a well established little set up begging to be stocked. :yay: What reefer doesn't dream of waking up to a year old tank waiting for them?

Anyway, my problems are these:

1) Lighting. The light on this thing is the original light that comes with the kit. 13 watt I think? It's at least 5 years old, I'm surprised it even turns on. I'm going to need an upgrade, and need suggestions for a light that will fit on a 3 gallon and not look terrible. I'm only looking to keep some basic soft corals, I'm thinking mushrooms and green star polyp, just for some color. So I won't need top of the line LED or anything. Anyone have any suggestions?

2) Live stock. I've grown attached to my little yellow terror of a damsel. He managed to live a year with minimal care, he deserves to be kept. So I've made peace with keeping him instead of the original plan of getting a more colorful fish. My problem is, he is VERY aggressive. I've seen him attack the hermits, and I know I can't add anything that will become an easy target. Can anyone think of any hardy inverts he will likely leave alone?

Thanks in advance reefers. :)

For lighting since your not looking to grow anything fancy why dont you put 2 of the coralife mini compact fluorescent. I do believe they have 50/50 bulbs. As for stocking something with the yellow damsel. I dont think I would try anything else with him. My only idea would be a emerald crab, but he would probably bug the crap out of him too.
