lighting question

Im going to turn my old 10 gallon tank into a small reef..One problem..Lights...How can i make some effective lighting that wont cost me out the arse...I have seen people building the diy led lighting but i dont know where to even start with that lol..Thanks everyone..It will mostly be softies in the tank with some frogspawn

here is a place to get some simple LED stuff. You need to know how to work with electricity though in order to wire. I am considering some of there blues for accent lights and moon lights.
 
Two of the Ecoxotic panorama Modules would do a good job for maotly anything (SPS?). You might call Jenn at IO about theirs. She is growing zoas/softies in a 12 gallon under a single Panorama Module. They are about $100 each.

it MAY have been mentioned already, but a DIY led light (at least strong nuff for clams and sps) will NOT save you money :) I just built one that is 7X15 w 24 CREE leds and the cost was over $400. IMO thats a lot for a light that SIZE
