Lighting Question

Coming from a 150w hqi 14k bulb on a 54 gallon, you can imagine that things looked a little dim and colors didnt stand out.

Now that I have a canopy, the lighting is 250w hqi with a 20k bulb and to pc atinics at 65w each.

I REALLY like the look of the 20k bulb.

I guess my question is, with a few sps, a clam and softies would the 250w 20k bulb be a lot better than lets say a 10k bulb and much better that the 150w 14k I had? It did come with a 10k also but doesnt have the "look" I wanted so I switched to the 20k.

Im willing to give up quicker growth for the look if im not doing it a diservice

I see am I not the only one who was confused with kalvin and sps
until yesterday I did not know that 20k bulb put out far less light than a 10k bulb.
years go I had a green slimmer sps under 55k bulbs and the growth rates was very high I could see a differance
Now I have another green slimmer under 14k lamps and it is like watching grass grow, I can't see it (grows very slow)
and from what I found on these bulb, they are low par rating ( blueline lamp)
