I am trying to find some good research information on reef lighting. I am looking for info on LED and T5s mostly. I have some knowledge about T5s but would like to compare the two. I am looking at a 75-110 gallon tank. Im not sure what kind of LED set up I would need. I have searched the forum and did not find what I was looking for (mostly found DIY build threads). I am looking for info on watts per gallon of LED light VS T5 light. I know watts per gallon is not a dead set rule but more of a good starting place. I just would like that starting point so I can start looking for lights and getting prices pulled together for my new tank build.

Thanks for any help.

I suppose the easiest way is to ask some of the members here that have LED lighting over their reef tanks and see how it performs. ?

LED's can get tricky when youre considering w/g because of optics and such. You can burn your corals really quickly if you aren't careful :)

Edit: BTW.. there is an article in this issue of CORAL magazine. about LED lighting. I haven't read it yet, but their articles are normally really good... it won't be light reading though (pun intended).

If you aren't aware you can get digital copies of CORAL for free on an ipad or iphone ... just download their app :) It works great... I read every issue :)
