<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"><span style="font-size: 13px;">I was wondering what lighting schedule people use. </span></span>
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"><span style="font-size: 13px;"> </span></span>
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"><span style="font-size: 13px;">My actinics come on at 2pm, followed by the 150W halide an hour later. Then they both stay on till around 9pm when the 150W halide turns off, which is followed by the actinics at 10pm. </span></span>
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"><span style="font-size: 13px;"> </span></span>
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"><span style="font-size: 13px;">My questions is – is it necessary to have the actinics and halide on at the same time for the whole day. </span></span>
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"><span style="font-size: 13px;"> </span></span>
<span style="font-family: Times New Roman;"><span style="font-size: 13px;">Could I turn the actinics off when the halide is fully powered on? and turn them back on when the halide is off to simulate dusk? IF I did this would it affect my corals or fish negatively? </span></span>

Think what you have going sounds good, leaving the actinics on or turning them off is more about what color light is produced with them both running. I cant think of any neg effects by turning off actinics.

I ran pretty much the same schedule when I was running metal halides. What is the rating on the bulbs? (14k, 20k, etc). If you are running 20k then you do not need the actinics for the coral... but I did like the color combination.

I'm using a 150W Radium 20K bulb. I think i'll try leaving the actinics off to see if they helps lower the tank temp during the day.
