I've seen where the question has been asked many times before but I've not seen a need that matches mine. I have a section in the sump that was designed to have mangroves but I'm going to convert it into a frag tank/section. It's 24Lx 6Wx6D
I was thinking about this

Anyone have any other ideas or thoughts?

What kind of coral are you wanting to keep in it? My vote is LED either way though

I'm a little fed up with LED for the moment. (I've got an AI thread with my thoughts and results)
I will have frags from SPS, zoas, and LPS.

I wouldn't suggest 2x24 on a 6 inch wide and 6 inch deep area. You will cook the frags or you will have to place it so high that you will be lighting the whole sump which means algae.

That's what I was afraid of. I have absolutely nothing against LED. Trust me. There will never be anything but LED over my DT.
I assume you're saying 3 x 10w with no optics right?

Isn't actinic better for growth? Just do a DIY led build with 10 3w rb led's.. Single driver, non dimmable, plug and play. Who cares what it looks like if it's just for frags

I'd suggest a couple of the 18W T5 fixtures above the area you want to grow out..

try looking at some of the under counter mounted fluorescent fixtures..

you can get "aquarium" lamps for them.. (I'm running an 18K in mine right now)
