I'd go with either the 2nd or 3rd link. I like the way the 3rd one looks but I'm not sure who makes it.

I am leaning towards the 3rd one. I'm not sure who makes it either. Thanks for replying.:D

3RD one is a picture that's on Aquatrader's website, so it's likely Odyssea as well

Edit: In fact, I THINK 1 and two are the discontinued previous model of number 3

I think....

Edit: Definitely go with number three.....

Odyssea products get a little better everytime they are revamped. Thats the only one I'd consider

Awesome! Number 3 is purchased and in the mail. Now I just need to get my hands on some good live rock!

Wait, do I need to add lunar lights to this or does it have them?

If you read through the post. It says 4 x bluemoon led.

Just checked the aquatraders.com website (Odyssea Emporium)....

They have taken the site offline until 10/22, (today) for a "holiday", but it's not back up as yet.....

Supposedly they are going to be introducing Odyssea brand Reef LED fixtures when they come back on line....

aquatraders.com

I'll check back with them to see the pricing, look and wattage. Not because I'll buy one (necessarily) but just to satisfy my curiosity.

When Odyssea starts selling a new technology, typically that means that it's gone mainstream and "over the hump" of being seen as new; prices start coming down in general.

I'm new to all of this so I wasn't sure if that was the same thing or not.

No biggy. We all start somewhere. You'll be find with this fixture. What kinda of corals do you plan to stock?

Well, I filled my 55 gallon up with live rock today. Found it on Craigslist 80lbs for $1 a pound. Once the cycle is done I plan to start with some of my clean up crew since by then I will prob have some algae. Then I was thinking one or 2 Dwarf Feather Duster, some Zoanthids, and I was wanting A Toadstool Leather. I may change my mind by then but I know for sure the toadstool leather and I keep thinking about the hammer corals as well. It's so hard to choose LOL:D

Yeah those light will do good for you. Just take your time and go slow and you'll have a beautiful tank soon enough.

Got my new lights on, here's how it looks. Anyone know of a way to extend the height of the sides where the light rests on the tank to avoid the light from hitting the skimmer valve? The way it is right now the light hood can't open.

I know on some light kits, there are little tabs on the top that can flip out for it to be suspended. Depends on what kind of mechanics you are working with. Is there a canopy for the tank? Could you just move them more toward the front of the tank? It is hard to see exactly what is going on from those pics. That also looks somewhat like a standard tank. I know me, and sometimes aesthetics is not as important as function. I would probably take a 3 inch piece of pvc, and cut it the length of the inside lip of the tank. and put one on each side so that the light sets on top of it, and lifted from your skimmer.

I think I'm going to look online for some kind oh H bracket that will fit there and lift it up about an inch.

How would I attach it do you think. I really thought it would be as simple as putting a bracket on there but I didn't see anything that would fit at Lowes. I could move my skimmer to a sump but how would I set it up since my tank is already set up. I don't know how I would get it under the stand. I wanted to put one in just not now.

I am not sure I follow. A bracket for the light? Depending on your sump setup you should be able to set your skimmer in. Unless for dimensions, or application, it would not work right for your sump. For attaching the pvc risers at least the standard tanks, I believe it is like what you have, have a lip on the inside of the tank. The small recess that a lid would normally sit on. I would just take a tape measure and measure the length from inside to inside, and go to Home Depot, pick up a length of PVC, (they have 24" lengths) and ask someone to cut it to the length of the inside of that top. That way it sits in there flat and your light can set on top of the pvc. This should give you the height different to raise your lights off of the skimmer, but still be short enough to not be very noticeable from the front view of the tank. Also, top down pic would help us see what/how much room you have available to work with. If your lights could just be slid more towards the front of the tank, and rest on the top (as I believe it is now) to where the skimmer flange is behind the light, this may prove a more simple fix than anything.

Nice tank setup so far. (past post with pics) I'm assuming you put the 10k on to take the pics? What light schedule are you using? (ie: blue's on, then 10k, then 10k off, then blue off ....ect) I'm trying to see how long I need to put my blue and 10k lights on for.

Thanks!

I'm not sure what 10k means but I run the dim lights in the morning, brights in the afternoon, dim in the evening, and moon lights at night.

I dont have a sump or I would just put the skimmer in there. I am using a hang on the back skimmer. The light hood is pushed all the way to the front and it rests against the skimmer in the back making it so I can't open the lights to access the inside of the tank. My hubbs is doing some research on how to build a sump. I have some spare tanks in the garage so he can use one of those, then I can move the skimmer to the sump and be done with it.
