At night, reverse respiration occurs, plants and algaes take in o2 and release co2. Some folks run opposite light cycles to attempt to keep a stable ph.

I run my lights 6 on 6 off 6 on 6 off. Edit: I don't run the fuge light opposite, I run that for 10 on 14 off.
