I wanted to see different folks opinions on lighting a (30x30x24) cube using T5. I plan on going bare bottom and going mainly sps with a few lps. How would you T5 guys light it. I'm trying to avoid having a chiller so the T5's are looking better than MH's. LED's are looking like an option as well (a little more $$$$ though)

Thanks!

I have a 93 cube and I bit the bullet and went with the MH. The problem with T5 in this tank is can the lighting effectively reach the bottom? Since you mentioned bare bottom; if you aren't going to put anything farther down than 1/2 way you are probably going to be OK. I didn't want to limit my possibilities, so I went with the MH.

Currently in the market for a Chiller, tho.

I am going with Duel 150W MH on my 92 corner. It is a deep tank.

Just out of curiosity, would putting a mirror at the bottom (outside of the tank) help keep light in the tank? Would it be too little difference to make it worth it?

That's my fallback plan if I can't find a good alternative. Care to post some updated pics??? I looked through your build thread. Nice work!!!

My update pics look about the same as my normal pics... No real growth (yet) but everything seems really happy. I'm glad I went with the ZEOvit system. As for the lighting, I'm glad I went with a 400; it allowed me to only use one light to cover the whole 30" spread. I am going to add a couple of VHOs but that is going to be mainly for color (I'm pretty sure the corals are good with the light I have :) )

Not to mention the moonlight LED on that fixture are awesome!Got one for my 75.
