Hey All,

So my tank was doing well and I added three anthias about a month and half ago which I think introduced flukes as they were flashing and one wasn’t really eating. I did one dose of prazipro which seemed to resolve everything but then a couple weeks later the flashing started again and moved to several different fish so I dosed again and everything seemed fine well since then I’m losing fish one by one it seems.

My powder blue died randomly and never even found the body then my tail spot blenny and now my fox face is in trouble. The progression seems like they slowly start to lose appetite then some labored breathing then they seem to die. It’s always one fish at a time also. I’m not seeing any visible white spots although there has been ich in the tank that I manage via UV and good feeding. I re-dosed prazipro last night to try and get some relief for the fox face as he was eating yesterday but since the dose has stopped. My Sailfin also has developed rapid breathing and while eating he has slowed down from his normal pig self since the dose. I still think this is maybe flukes so I’m going to aggresively dose for 3-4 treatments unless there are other ideas. I’m also going to dose metro and kanaplex in food to help with any secondary infections or bacterial.

The tank is large with a lot of rock work so pulling everyone out and treating with copper just isn’t really an option. I can’t even catch the sick fox face to give him a freshwater dip.

No major changes or parameter swings other than the anthias 1.5 months ago.

Any other thoughts? Is this maybe velvet? I’m used to velvet being much more aggressive than this with fish covered in spots

When you use Prazipro to eliminate flukes, you have to time the 2nd dosage just right according to the water temperature. Because while prazi does kill worms, it doesn’t eliminate any eggs they might leave behind. I recommend using the BeNeZe tool to determine when is the best time to add the second dose (scroll down after clicking the link): BeNeZe Tool

As an update, both the foxface and sailfin clearly had likely gill flukes as they both were breathing heavily after treatment. Subsequently after two days, they've both returned to 100% normal. I previously had only dosed once at a time until I saw symptoms reappear which was clearly a mistake. I'll be dosing again (actually probably two more times) but am debating on the timing. The bottle says every 5-7 days, the BeNeZe tool says to dose again on day 8. I really want to get this right this time as I'm concerned PraziPro will lose effectiveness since I'm treating in a display tank.
