Live Rock Cleaning help

CodSack;885448 wrote: No offense but tossing the the rock and starting over would just be stupid. The rock is fine other than a little slim algae and a few small aptasia. So I'm just looking for advice on killing it. I'm helping a buddy set up a complete system he just bought and we broke the tank down moved it to his house, cleaned the tank sump skimmer and all plumbing and set the tank back up. He got new sand and we just didn't want to put the rock back in until we made sure it was pest free ect. The slime algae isn't the main issue, I'm mostly just worried about the aptasia, it wasn't bad only a hand full of small ones but if we already have the rock out what is the best way to treat it? Putting it in the over isn't an option, the wife would kill us lol. I soaked the mp10's in a vinegar/water solution so I was just curious if it would kill the aptasia as well.

Edit:

Noted...dog hair is bad!!!! Thanks for the tip man lol

Dude. Chill out.
Almost every body has had an aiptasia in their system before. Just hit it with aiptasia-x a few times.. no big deal...

I lead off with "No offense" and I wasn't trying to be rude to you. I just feel it would be a waste of money to toss the rock and buy new rock. That is all.

geez, I heard someone was boiling rocks in the house and got gassed, that was you?
Blimee man, point taken. it soundsed like an urban legend.
I been doing it since the 80's. I never do in the house cuz it stinks. I was always had nuisance pest so I always scrubbed the heck off it, down to the bone.

I read about this guy . He almost killed himself his wife and his dogs.
Making paly soup = no bueno !!

Would blasting the rock with a strong powerhead remove all the cyanobacteria? As far as the Aiptasia, I've killed them in my tank by brushing them with a stick with some Pickling Lime on the end - they died pretty easy. I feel like any live rock has too much value in biodiversity to just nuke any.
