i am going to morph 2 55's into one. i have double of most things such as skimmers, hob overflo, return pumps, uv's, live rock, etc. what i want to do is make one good setup instead of having 2 half---ed ones. i am going to use all the live rock in one tank and maybe some in a sump. i've been using a wet/dry and bio balls since the beginning and it has worked well. i need to upgrade some stuff such as lighting, new bulb in uv.
i have a 30 gal i could make into a sump, use both hob overflo's and both return pumps for more flo in the tank. should i make some sort of closed loop with the secound return pump? i will have alot of extra mushrooms to get rid of as i rescape the tank with the other live rock. i would also like to make 5 gal or so holding tank to make water changes easier with a pump to pump into the sump when needed and recirculate when waiting to be used.
any thoughts would be helpful, been running an empty 55 for about 6 months now.

thanks

why not have dual displays that incorporate the same water column?

Have one drain into the other that drains into the sump.. (or both drain into the sump and have separate supply lines coming from the sump..)

one could be a reef, the other could be fish only (or a displayed refugium & coral propagation tank)

i would probably do that if i was single, lol, or if i did that i probably would be single.
