So yay almost all of my SPS frags and almost all of the large colonies are bleached dead in two days time.Somehow only occuring in two of my coral tanks.Anything salvageable I've moved to a non affected tank in hopes of saving.
Tank 1
0 Ammonia 0 Nitrite 20ppm Nitrate PH 8.4 ALKALINITY 6KH CALCIUM 560 SALINITY 1.025

Tank 2 All the same except ALKALINITY 8KH CALCIUM 580 SALINITY 1.024

Any ideas or suggestions been dosing straight powder for 2 days now Reef builder any suggestions?
Heavy color loss in some other corals while some arent affected at all,For example the monti's and chalice's seem fine nuclear green and purple death are fading fast. Bubble is fine frogspawns are small and pissed.Truly confusing.
Thanks for any comments or help

Sounds familiar. My frogs and candies are on there way out as well. Even my kenya tree...KENYA TREEEEEE!!

I had similar alkalinity and calcium levels as well. I still can't pinpoint mine exactly.

Not the salt i used the salt in my other coral tanks no problem..its very very odd i will be doing a massive water change tomorrow

what salt are you using? you know I lost that huge birdsnest in 2 days also with all parameters spot on.

Just looking at these paramaters real quick I would bump up the alk to atleast 8, lower the calcium, and lower the nitrates. I run my setup at around 8-9dkh kh, 430 calc, and less than 1 on nitrates. 6 Alk seems really low and would be the one I would be focusing on first. Has alot of your coraline gone white or seized to grow? How is the magnesium in your tanks? Also with calcium that high have you noticed in precipitation events?

Alk is too low, imho, especially if the borate alk is large.
nitrates are too high for sps, and I guess you haven't tested phosphates which is too high, i'm sure.

If it makes you feel better that is not a record. I have seen some pristine tanks go in a day. Mine was wiped out in an hour thanks to a hydor heater. POS!
I am sorry to hear it but you know we are here to get ya back in action once the problem is solved.
Were you in the middle of a tank swap or anything?

Ok so water change today of 30 % or more? got enough water I can do a 50%.No idea what my magnesium or phosphates are to be honest i just have PH Calcium Alk Nitrate Nitrite and Ammonia tests. Im gonna toss some poly resin filters in today as well.Yes stark white man like cleaner then white rice lol. I laugh but I really wanna cry!!Totaled a ford focus 2010 this week and blew a rod in my sable last week. This sucks! So will the water change help remove my calcium thats so high?If so do i treat the tank with my ALk buffer after the change still or just test all parameters a good 45 mins after the change and go from there?Thank god i don't sleep anyways I dont get off till 10 tonight!Truly appreciate all this input anymore will be greatly appreciated!

If the water change is the right route to go I could possibly do it this morning before work??

The solution to pollution is dilution. Water changes, lots of them! I stabilized my blowout in a couple days and now have some frags in there looking nice a healthy.
