was bored at lunch today and started youtubing some reefing stuff.. and once I'd followed the rabbit far enough down the hole.. it led me to some DIY live-rock stuff. Can't say I'm much interested in DIY live-rock myself, but stumbled on this guy's work.. and I have to say... I really, REALLY like it. Totally different theme than I've ever seen... What do y'all think? All the 'rock work' you see was made by him, by hand.

I don't personally like it. Thats about as unnatural as you can get... maybe he wasn't going natural though.. makes me want rice crispy treats

haha. I think he was going natural, if by natural you mean what it might look like after ocean waters flooded ancient ruins. In that context, I think it looks awesome!

But I know what you mean.

I can appreciate it for what it is. Personally not my cup of tea....but def cool for the ancient ruins look.

I'm definitely a fan of it if you're doing it on a LARGE scale, like, several hundred gallons.. and it was FOWLR or you just had big leather corals or huge showpiece sized SPS... other than that, I admit it looks a little awkward and hokey, but I dunno.. something about it I love.

Same for me. I wouldn't have it in my tank, but this is way better than those tacky inserts you buy at the fish store. I like his idea.

I was thinking the same thing, like how about a broken statue or something, maybe a marble arm coming out from behind one of the blocks, maybe some broken pottery.

You know, I maybe sound like a snob, but I'd rather have a themed tank like that be FOWLR only than the scant corals he has there. Hard to even call that a reef, IMO. Do it up, or don't do it at all.
