Just about 15 minutes ago I noticed that my LTA was hung in the powerhead. Had to get my daughter with her small fingers to fish him out. I noticed after she got him out he was torn half way through in the middle. Will this affect his survival or will he split into two seprate ones? Thanks Mike:huh:

I've seen people go both ways but most I read end in loss of the anemone. Either way, I'd watch it like a hawk as you risk a crash when it dies. And everyone says they go fast.

Ouch. One of my worst fears. For the best results, get ready for several water changes and start running carbon to clean the mess the anemone made. Place the anemone in a specimen container hanging in the tank with tank water. This will not stress it with a change in water and give it a chance to recover without the competition of the other livestock in the tank.

If he continues to mess your tank water, then consider moving it to a separate tank.

Best of luck. You may end up with two anenomes.

You may have messed up by pulling it out. For future referance, when/if an anemone gets sucked up, turn the pump off and let the anemone work it's way out. If you pull it out, you'll generally damage it further.

thanks guys....I caught him before he got into the propeller parts and cut the powerhead off quick. so no shredding was done....there is nothing floating in the tank with just LPS corals, snails, blue hermit crabs. This did not happen in the FOWLR 40 gal tank. Been watching him and he has opened back up and waving his tentacles...still has good color. But I will watch for anything usual floating in the water. Maybe he learned his lesson andwill finally attach itself to something...LOL

Thanks everyone...update.....he looks like he will make it...looked at him and looks just like he did before this incident. The moonlights are on and he is glowing a nice green.

Update. still doing fine, open and eating. Covered the powerhead with an old knee hi panty hose just incase he decides to move around again.
